Ever just all of a sudden just thought to yourself "I'm actually lucky I'm alive" and then actually respect the fact that you are? That's what happened to me yesterday. I was laying on my bed and that thought came into my head. I'm lucky to have lived to the age I have. Some people aren't lucky enough to experience even half of their life, having it cut short by the many things out there that are the risks to humans. Disease, murder and just plain old accidents.
So, I wondered how I could express that through photography. I wanted to find something that doesn't have a very long life, or doesn't last very long but it had to be something that wasn't actually a living, breathing being. A light bulb. My light bulbs are cheap, they don't last long and the bulb in my lamp happened to die yesterday. And so led to this shot. I wanted to try something and submit something different from my usual for a change.
Canon Powershot A75: 2.0 sec, f/4.0, 11.3mm, ISO 50, No flash. Tripod used.
Setup: White paper on the floor, ceiling light (flourescent)
Post Prossessing: Cloning of some spots on the paper, colour separation (original photo colours), contrast, sharpening (Photoshop CS)
Great meaning to this shot. I agree with your description.
This is very nicely done. I specifically like how the brand of the light bulb ca be found on the seperate pieces of the glass. Great detail.

. . . but why male models?
I'm going to have to try this sort of photography myself, as it's something I haven't done either.
When you say "colour separation", what exactly do you mean, and what does it do for the picture?
